What is Pilates and Benefits

Pilates focuses on building your body's core strength and improving your posture through a series of low repetition low impact stretching and conditioning exercises.

By improving the functioning of these muscles, the individual has what is known as “core strength”. By core strength, we are talking about your back, abdominal and pelvic muscles.  The aim of Pilates is by targeting specific muscles that improve posture. There are a number of core principles behind these exercises:

  • relaxation
  • concentration
  • body alignment
  • control
  • routine
  • breathing control
  • coordination
  • smoothness of movement
  • stamina
